Carla for bioCarla Parchment

Birth and Postpartum Doula

Carla’s path to doula care began years ago with her work in Tanzania, where she volunteered with midwives for a year to support labouring women. Carla had the unique experience to see childbirth supported in a context where resources were not readily available. She and the midwives had to rely on their instincts, hands and strong words of reassurance as their primary tools to help clients cope with labour and struggles in postpartum.  It was from this experience that Carla felt inspired to complete her doula training and continue to offer birthing and postpartum support in her home town of Toronto

Carla encourages parents to make confident and informed decisions during pregnancy, birth & postpartum. Having seen so many ways that birthing may unfold, she has applied that reassuring touch and presence to clients who have birthed in many different situations.  Carla is a twin and multiples specialist, and in the last 3 years has focused her care on postpartum support to help families adjust to their growing family.

Carla is also a Traditional Reiki Practitioner who loves to incorporate this touch into her doula practice.

We are currentlySharon Clements

Postpartum Doula & Newborn Specialist

Sharon’s doula journey started informally with the birth of her granddaughter in 1999. She was able to know just what her daughter needed in her postpartum period to make it a smoother transition for her. She has been asked by many family members to “give them a hand’ during their postpartum period since. Many of these family members felt more comfortable with Sharon handling their baby than anyone else because of her ‘calming presence’ and ‘confidence with their little ones’. She decided to make this support official in 2015 and took her Postpartum Doula Certification course with Prodoula. Since then she has helped care for a variety of families with different needs, including supporting twins/multiples, premature newborns. Sharon enjoys every family she works with and supports all parenting styles.

Sharon loves spending time with her 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and relaxing at the cottage.

Maureen has always been surrounded by growing families. Born in England, she was the youngest of 9 children, and quickly became dedicated to minding her many nieces & nephews. At 18, she emigrated to Canada to begin working as a nanny. Amanda DoddAmanda Dadd

Gentle Sleep Coach

Amanda is a Trained and Certified Gentle Sleep Coach dedicated to changing the lives of sleepless families. She passionately believes that parents should not have to suffer months, if not years of sleep deprivation when there are solutions out there that work.

Amanda’s sleep journey began 13 years ago when the first of her four children were born. “I was as dazed and confused as any other first time parent” It was then she began her search for the most comprehensive and extensive Sleep Coaching Program available. The Gentle Sleep Coach approach is a gentler alternative for families who emotionally or philosophically resist letting their babies cry it out: for families who tried “Ferber” (controlled crying) and it didn’t work, and for families who let their baby cry-it-out earlier but now find it doesn’t help.

Today, Amanda supports, educates and empowers families while gently guiding their children with a compassionate approach, teaching great sleep skills that will last a lifetime.

“I feel privileged to be invited into the homes and lives of the families I work with”
